The Obsidian cape can be bought from the weapon shop of TzHaar City for the price of 90,000 Tokkul. It is made from slivers of interlinked obsidian and enchanted with TzHaar magic, like all TzHaar equipment. It is one of the two only TzHaar items whose name isn't in the TzHaar language, the other is the Fire cape. It is also dropped by the inhabitants of the underground volcano city of TzHaar. Since the TzHaar shops update on 15 December, 2009 it is no longer possible to sell this to the TzHaar shop.
Due to its lack of any requirement to wear and high defence stats (same as an untrimmed Cape of Accomplishment), it's an extremely popular cape among low to medium levelled players.

Criticism
Edit
Upon release of the Obsidian Cape, players who wore the Cape of Legends became angered by the Obsidian cape's superior stats (the Obsidian Cape's +9 defence versus the Cape of Legends +7) and lack of skill and quest requirements. It should be noted that the Cape of Legends costs far less to replace than the Obsidian cape, making the Legends Cape preferable for dangerous situations, such as Player Killing. Others complained that a Cape of Accomplishment required more effort to get and the Obsidian Cape shouldn't share the same stats.

Trivia
Edit

- The item image of the obsidian cape has a red collar, but the cloak on a player has a dark grey collar.
- All TzHaar items were updated on 14 February 2012, except for the Obsidian and Fire cape. While for the fire cape it was announced it wouldn't get updated, nothing was said about the obsidian cape.
- You are allowed to bring the obsidian cape aboard the ship to entrana, but upon arrival a monk will appear and send you back to port sarim. It is unknown whether this is intentional or not.
