A Newcomer map is a map sold at all general stores for one coin, to help new players of the game find their way around the RuneScape world. The map does not give clear directions, but shows a general view of eastern Asgarnia and western Misthalin.
As the world map is accessible from RuneScape's interface, the newcomer map is rarely used nowadays. The world map is much more accurate and shows more detail than the newcomer map.
This item was once used to scam other players by thinking it was a Christmas cracker.
