The Myriad
From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape
The Myriad was the name of a race that existed during the early ages of Gielinor. Although their true name is lost, their beauty is still remembered by some such as Juna, earning them the name "The Myriad Civilisation."
The Myriad appeared similar to ever-changing crystal, although Juna claims that they were difficult to describe. The Myriad created massive cities made of this crystal-like material, which became some of Gielinor's ancient wonders, and, according to Juna, they were magnificent to look at, especially when the light shone through the huge crystal towers and created a rainbow of colours that the Myriad loved to bathe in. Each Myriad had its own preferred colour, and the Light Creatures that are the remnants of the Myriad show this: They react when blue light is shone upon them, and will try to carry the light away, and you with it.
Light creatures, as stated above, are the last remnants of the Myriad. Juna claims she has no idea how they got down into her cave, but many believe the Myriad kingdom was in the location of Lumbridge today, though this is not officially stated. The creatures can be found near Juna in a chasm within the Lumbridge Swamp Caves.
[edit] Trivia
- Many players believe that, because they built cities of Crystal, there is a connection between the Myriad and the Elven deity Seren. Some speculate that the city of Prifdinnas was made by the Myriad.
- Myriad is Greek for ten thousand, and sometimes simply means "great quantity".
