Mummy

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

Mummies are Undead found in the Pyramid Plunder mini-game, during quests such as Desert Treasure and Dealing with Scabaras, and in the Chaos Tunnels.

Mummies are well known for dropping Ancient Staves, although this is a quite rare drop. If you've purchased an Ancient staff from Eblis and lost it, and don't want to buy one from another player, this is your only choice.

[edit] Strengths and Weaknesses

Mummies can hit through even the well-armoured (Rune armour and Dragon armour) players with high amounts of damage (up to 24 hitpoints). For this reason, players should consider using the Protect from Melee prayer when meleeing them. This is especially recommended when players wear low-defence Desert camouflage gear or Desert robes (to reduce water consumption and avoid the effects of desert heat) when fighting the mummies in desert areas such as Ullek.

Mummies have a high melee Defence, which suggests that players use Super set potions.

Mummies are Undead, which means that wearing a Salve amulet (e) provides a significant combat boost. In addition, Mummies are weak to fire magic spells. Despite being undead, the Magic spell Crumble Undead does not affect mummies, contrary to the beliefs and wishes of some players.

[edit] Ice Burst and Red Chinchompas

A player casting ice burst on a group of mummies in the Chaos Tunnels.

There is an area in the Chaos Tunnels with at least 15 aggressive mummies, making it a great place to train using Red Chinchompas, normal Chinchompas or ancient magicks. Although expensive, the Ancient staffs and rune items dropped from the mummies helps to cover small portions of how much you spend.

[edit] Trivia

  • The level 96 mummies that come out of the sarcophagi in the Jaldraocht Pyramid have 1 hp and can only be killed by fire spells. What's more interesting is that they have the same drops as the level 103 mummies. There are also 2-3 parts of the pyramid you can reach where no level 103 mummies will attack you.
  • If you use any fire spell, the Mummy will catch on fire but will not be affected in combat other than in a few of their animations.
  • Also, while on fire, their examine info changes. This only happens if you continue to use fire spells. Otherwise, it will change back.
