Automaton Tracers drop the rare and expensive pneumatic gloves, currently worth 1,527,197, in addition to very good regular drops of herbs, seeds, and raw materials. The automatons can be accessed after completing The World Wakes and the other required quests. The easiest way to get to them is to use the Sixth-Age circuit to teleport to Guthix's Cave, and then teleporting into the main chamber by talking to the Guthixian High Druid. The tracers are located in the southern part of the chamber.

Turn on Turmoil then begin attacking the automaton, using basic abilities to build up adrenaline. Soul split can be left off for the majority of the time, as the Automatons are not dangerously powerful; however, activate the curse to heal lost life points when needed. Avoid using Backhand or Kick, as these should be saved for the Automaton's special attack. Slice, Sever, Dismember, and Punish are good abilities to use with Revolution. When you have enough adrenaline and the Automaton still has at least 5,000 life points, Assault and Destroy can both be used as thresholds for large amounts of damage. Avoid using Flurry, as it will cause other automatons to attack you if they are hit with it. When available, the ultimate ability Berserk can be used to deal massive amounts of damage in a short amount of time. For 20 seconds, you will take 50% more damage and have your defense lowered by 50%, but you will deal double damage. If activated at the beginning of a kill and abilities are diligently used, 2 kills can be obtained for the duration of the effect.

When the automaton lifts its arms into the air, it is about to use its special attack. It will slam the ground repeatedly for a few seconds, dealing massive amounts of damage if not stopped. To counter its special attack, use Backhand or Kick as soon as possible to stun it. The animation will continue; however, you will not be dealt any damage.

The automaton tracers' best drop is a pair of pneumatic gloves. These are believed to be about a 1/1250 drop, although no official rate has been given. The profit per hour calculation at the top of the page is only the estimated long term average — one might go 5 or 10 or 20 hours without any pneumatic gloves drops, and then make 2 million coins in one kill. The automatons also have very good regular drops of seeds, herbs, magic logs, rune bars, and others, although picking up too many of them may cut into the number of kills per hour.
