| Effectiveness | Fishing level requirement | Details | Other requirements/fishing equipment |
|---|---|---|---|
| ***** | Level 5 | Sardines sell for about 16 coins each if raw, and around 4 coins when cooked. These can be fished from the Catherby shore, the southern shore of Al-Kharid, and Draynor Village. | |
| ***** | level 10 | Herring sells for about 31 coins each if raw, and around 9 coins when cooked. However while fishing these you can catch sardines as well which are worth half as much. You can fish these in the same spots as sardines. | |
| ***** | Level 15 | Catch anchovies in the same spot as herring and sardine with a small net. Anchovies sell for about 69 coins each, while the cooked versions sell for 119 coins each. Players who catch any shrimp are advised to drop them as they are worth much less than anchovies. | |
| ***** | Level 35 | Tuna can be caught at level 35 fishing. They sell for 109 when cooked, and 141 when uncooked. the player can use either Catherby or the Fishing Guild. | |
| ***** | Level 38 | At this level, the player can catch cave eel in the same spot as slimy eel. Uncooked cave eels sell for 269 coins each, while cooked they sell for 192. | |
| ***** | Level 40 | Fishing lobsters is a very popular way to make money for both free-to-play members and lower level pay-to-play members. There are two popular places to catch them; Karamja or Catherby. If you catch at Karamja, you can bank them in the TzHaar city, if you catch them in Catherby then go to Catherby bank. | |
| ***** | Level 50 | At this level Swordfish can be caught and sold for 500 when cooked and 581 when uncooked. Tuna, however, is caught with them. The player can use either Catherby or the Fishing Guild. | |
| ***** | Level 62 | Monkfish are found at the Piscatoris Fishing Colony. They tend to be caught faster than sharks, even at high levels, and sell for around 554 coins each when raw, and about 539 coins when cooked. In an hour, you can catch about 250-320 monkfish, depending on your Fishing level. See this monkfish analysis for a breakdown of its efficiency. | Swan Song completed |
| ***** | Level 65 | At this level you can fish Raw karambwan, which are worth 640 coins each. Keep in mind that the Karambwan will sometimes steal the bait from the vessel. If this happens often, it could lower your profit. | Tai Bwo Wannai Trio completed |
| ***** | Level 76 | At this level, you can fish sharks. Sharks are caught fairly slowly even at high levels, so it is advisable not to fish them with a fishing level lower than about 80. Raw sharks sell for around 1,545coins each, and cooked sharks fetch for about 1,504 coins each. At 95+ Fishing you can get around 1,000 sharks in 7 hours or less; however, on average, only about 150 sharks can be caught in an hour, even with 99 fishing. However, it's still arguable that this is the best conventional method of making money by fishing. | |
| ***** | Level 81+ | Players can attempt the Fishing Trawler minigame. If the boat manages to last for 10 minutes without sinking, players and their teammates can get very valuable fish such as manta rays and/or sea turtles. Unlike other fish, cooked sea turtles and manta rays fetch higher prices then their raw counterparts. Cooked manta rays can sell for about 2,943 coins each while cooked sea turtles sell for about 2,556 coins. If the boat doesn't sink, most of the time, the player will normally make at least approximately 20 manta rays, which may lead to 60k every 10 minutes, but only if the player is on a good team, and the boat does not sink. | 91 cooking (optional) |
