The Mining instructor on Tutorial Island (named Dezzick) is the fifth non-player character that a beginning player will meet in RuneScape. He teaches players about the Mining and Smithing skills.
Dezzick is a miner by trade. He is one of the more friendly Tutorial Island tutors, unlike his neighbour Vannaka. He is skilled at mining and also knows how to smith many different kinds of weapons. Dezzick appears to be wielding a Steel pickaxe. Before an update, He used to wield a rune pickaxe. He is wearing a Strung rabbit foot, leather gloves, and a Grey pirate bandana. Due to a update you no longer meet him.
