Harlan the Melee instructor is one of the Combat instructors available to help out new players. He can be found in Lumbridge in the building north of the general store. As the master of Defence, he sells Defence cape and hood for 99,000 coins to players who have achieved level 99 in Defence. Harlan is one of the few skillcape sellers who can be found outside a guild.
He wields an alternate version of the training shield. His complete outfit can be imitated by male players by wearing the Defence cape, decorative platebody (white with light blue trims), flared trousers (blue), training sword and shield, climbing boots, and the same hairstyle.
He used to give new players a training sword and a training shield to those who asked for it, but this feature was removed on 17 September 2009[1]. Beefy Bill now sells the Training equipment.
