Maximum melee hit

Maximum melee hit is the maximum damage a player can deal in a melee combat. It is affected by player's strength, equipment and other bonuses such as prayer or potions.

[edit] Formula

This is approximate formula to calculate your maximum hit in melee combat. It does not pretend to be correct but it is usable as a rough guess.

1. Calculate your base strength (all bonuses should be in decimal points):

math
  • To work out the bonus for a specific prayer if the percentage is known, divide the percentage by 100.

2. Add bonus for combat style using following table:

Combat style Bonus
Aggressive 3
Controlled 1
Accurate 0
Defensive 0
math

3. Calculate your strength multiplier. You can determine strength bonus of your equipment by looking at your inventory screen or adding strength bonuses of individual pieces of your equipment together.

4. Now you can compute final max hit value:

math

Using Keris, a player with 99 strength could hit up to 117 on assigned Kalphites, using the best strength equipment, the Piety prayer, a black mask , and drinking a super strength potion.

In the Dungeon of Tolna during A Soul's Bane quest, players could hit up to 200 on monsters in the rage room, however that damage is simply a player's normal damage times twenty, and doesn't give any experience.

When touching the Stone of Jas, all the combat stats excluding prayer will be boosted to 255. In this case, the max hit is currently unknown. Theoretically it is 230+ using the Dharoks special, however, since touching the stone also makes your hp always stay at 255, it would not work.

In the barbarian assault minigame you can hit a possible of your max hit +5 if your attacker level is 5 on the penance rangers and fighters.
