Max is an NPC who sells the Max cape. He runs around eastern Varrock performing different skills. He wears a Max cape with hood, Torva platebody, Torva platelegs, Culinaromancer gloves 10 and a pair of Steadfast Boots. His combat level is 200, the highest possible for any player.

Max does multiple things which include casting High Level Alchemy, smithing at Horvik's shop, firemaking and cooking just outside Horvik's shop, spinning clay at the potter's wheels east of Aubury and woodcutting at the Varrock tree patch. He runs around each of these locations because he is an avid skiller, but when you do manage to catch up to him he will happily sell you a Max Cape for 2,475,000 coins (99,000 x 25 skills) if you have level 99 in every skill. If a player talks about his cape but do not reach the requirements, the 99s still needed would be listed in the chatbox.

Just like a player, he has a follow option and a trade option. However, instead of a "Req assist" he has examine. When you trade with Max, although he will accept your request to trade, he will not offer any items nor accept any items and will eventually decline the trade.

TriviaEdit

• Max has a Trade option, although when clicking on it, the "Sending trade request." message appears in the game tab, not trade.
• His name is a pun in that all of his skills are "maxed".
• If you light a fire where he usually lights his, he will train cooking on your fire instead of lighting his own.
• He appears to wield his Inferno Adze when running, though it is invisible.
• Max wore a pair of culinaromancer's gloves 10 before they were graphically updated to match the new barrows equipment. When torva armour and dragon boots were updated on 6 March 2012, Max's armour didn't get updated along with it.
• Max may be a follower of Zaros, as indicated in Postbag from the Hedge 46, as he praised him for giving such luck for the two Torva pieces from Nex. Further evidence that he may be a follower of Zaros is that he is wearing armour with the Zarosian symbol on it and because he is running around Varrock. Varrock was built over Zaros' capital city of Senntisten after Saradominists and Zamorakians destroyed the capital city and even went so far as to build the permanent camp of Avarocka which later became a city and was renamed Varrock just to prevent anyone from accidentally or purposely Reawakening Zaros.
• A graphical update on December 2012 gave Max the updated Torva armour and Steadfast boots.
