The Maple shortbow is a shortbow stronger than the willow shortbow that can use arrows up to adamant. It is the strongest shortbow available to non-members and is the most popular in F2P worlds. The maple shortbow requires a Ranged level of 30 or higher to wield. Players can purchase this bow from Lowe's Archery Emporium in Varrock for 400 coins. It is the shortbow counterpart to the maple longbow. It also shoots less accurately and shoots a short distance.

Members can also make a maple shortbow through the Fletching skill at level 50. First, a player must cut an unstrung maple shortbow from maple logs, granting 50 Fletching experience. Then, the player must string the unstrung maple shortbow with a bow string, granting 50 experience.

This bow was originally members only item. This has been changed by Jagex when they believed that the free to play rangers were not as strong as the other two combat classes.
