|Quest NPC||Kindred Spirits|
Major Mary Rancour is a high ranking member of the Burthorpe Imperial Guard and plays a significant role in the Kindred Spirits quest, as well as the former Troll Warzone tutorial. She will replace dwarven army axes if they are lost, and can be found in Burthorpe just south of Commander Denulth. One of her duties is to oversee the combatants and guards of Burthorpe by watching the troll path from the wall at the north east area.
During Kindred Spirits, it is revealed that she had lost her husband and two children to the Trolls in the Burthorpe - Troll Country War. As such, she fights for Burthorpe not only to protect its civilians but also for revenge. She has many scars on her face, supporting the fact that she is a very active fighter and strategist. She gives advice and suggestions for players who are willing to train combat.
Players may also ask her for "free stuff" once, and she will give them five of each of Varrock teleport, Falador teleport, Attack potion (4), Strength potion (4), Defence potion (4), Prayer potion (4), as well as a steel full helm.
Kindred Spirits and Mega MayEdit
In one of Meg's cases, the Major is abducted in broad daylight during a combat drill. In her place is her predecessor, Major Nigel Corothers. Talking to him reveals that the whole area went dark, despite it being the daytime, thus meaning none of the soldiers saw anything. You are then directed to go search for clues.
This case was a teaser for the quest Kindred Spirits, as it set up her reason for being involved in the story.
During the Kindred Spirits quest, Major Rancour was revealed to have been taken hostage by Sliske, along with Meg, Linza, and the Barrows brothers. She plays an important role, as she is one of three main characters used to sway decisions the Player has to make. She expresses bitterness towards The World Guardian eventually, after much stress, because she's worked for everything, while the player succeeds with minimal effort. After Linza is turned into a Barrows wight, The World Guardian, Meg, and the Major rush to escape the collapsing tunnel.
