Mage's book

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

The Mage's book is a book held in place of a shield that is a reward from the Mage Training Arena minigame, but it was also acquired as a rare potential drop from PVP worlds or Bounty Worlds until the 16 June 2009 update that removed them as a PvP drop. A mage's book can be obtained from the Rewards Guardian in exchange for 500 telekinetic, 550 alchemist, 6000 enchantment, and 500 graveyard pizazz points. Until recently, the mage's book provided the highest magic attack and defence bonus of any item worn in the shield slot. These statistics can now be claimed by the Arcane spirit shield and Spectral spirit shield. The mage's book requires 60 magic to wield.

[edit] Trivia

  • It is the most expensive reward available from the Rewards Guardian.
  • It is commonly accepted as the hardest book to obtain in the game.
  • It has the second-highest mage bonus for any piece of equipment in the shield slot, the highest being the Arcane spirit shield.
  • It also has the second-highest mage defence for a shield, the highest being the Spectral spirit shield.
  • It is one of the most expensive items that can be worn in the shield spot, the most expensive probably being the Divine spirit shield or the Elysian spirit shield.
  • Because of its status and how hard it is to obtain, the Mage's book is frequently 'merched'.
