A Long bone may be dropped by monsters that will drop big bones 100 percent of the time, such as Hill, Moss and Fire giants, Mogres, Trolls, and Ogres.

Long bones may be sold to Barlak, a Dorgesh-Kaan cave goblin, for 1,000 coins each. Players will also be given a lecture on Construction, granting 1,500 construction experience (as long as your construction level is at least 30).

Long bones will give 15 Prayer experience points when buried although, given the ability to exchange these bones for coins and experience, this course of action is certainly not recommended. Recently, Jagex has added an ingame message that appears when players try to bury this bone. It reads: "That bone looks like a valuable construction material. Perhaps someone who uses bones as a building material might buy it off you." Then players may choose to cancel the burying of the bone. This prevents accidental burying. However, this message no long appears, so be careful when clicking on long bones and curved bones.

Long bones are NOT tradeable.
