A Login server is one of over 160 servers available in RuneScape that verify that a player is valid and active after entering a username and Password.
The login screen appears as the player prepares to log in. The Username and Password is sent to one of the login servers for verification before allowing the player to play the game.
During login server maintenance there will be a 12.5% chance that a player would not be able to sign on. Assignments to which login server is random. A family with different players from the same IP address may have some of their members being able to sign on with other family members not able to play.
Sometimes which a technical issue occurs, players may be unable to login until the problem is resolved. See Server.
The images of flames depicted on the old login screen (before the login screen update) are known as the flames of Lloigh-enn that are said to "require a spell recited most precisely, that is different for each individual who wishes to pass through."[1] ("Lloigh-enn" being based on "Log In" and the "Spell" being the Password that each player must use to get into the game.)
