This is a list of quest release dates in reverse chronological order. The total possible Quest points (QP) at the time of release of each quest is also given.
Between the release of Rune Mysteries on 1 December 2003 and that of Learning the Ropes on 14 July 2008, free-to-play players were limited to 39 quest points. With the release of Learning the Ropes, the number of free-to-play quest points increased to 40. The release of The Blood Pact on 15 March 2010, increased the total possible amount of quest points for non-members to 41. When Swept Away and Myths of the White Lands were made available to free players on 24 June 2010, the maximum possible number of quest points for non-members was 43. With the release of Troll Warzone on 31 Jan 2012 releasing 4 reworked members to free-play, the total number of Quest Points became 49. A Shadow over Ashdale raised this to 50.

Note: This does not count reworked quests as new quests, and as such they do not increase the amount of quests.

- Underground Pass (#42) was the final quest converted from RuneScape Classic to RuneScape 2 on 15 April 2004.
- Jagex has stated that Cook's Assistant was the first quest they started to develop. This was mentioned in the March 2006 issue of the Postbag from the Hedge.
