Light sources
From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape
Light sources are used through the Firemaking skill to light the way through dark dungeons. Without them some places are pitch black and players cannot see where they are going. Some places won't even let a player in without one.
If a light source is extinguished while in the dark area, the player will be eventually attacked by "bugs", which hit 1 at a extremely quick speed. This is why one should always bring a tinderbox to relight their light source if it is extinguished.
If a player attempts to extinguish a light source in an area where they need it (with the "extinguish" option), the game will not let them.
[edit] Light source Items
Light source items all need a tinderbox to be lit, with the exception of torches which can also be lit with dry sticks. Most lit light sources cannot be traded unless they are extinguished. The light sources are:
- Torch
- Candle
- Candle lantern
- Black candle lantern
- Oil lamp
- Oil lantern
- Bullseye lantern
- Mining helmet
- Black candle (quest)
- Sapphire lantern (quest)
- Emerald lantern (quest)
