Legiones

The Legiones are the most powerful of the Ascended and are presumed to be the leaders of the Order of Ascension. They are all found in the Monastery of Ascension.

Legio Primus, the first of the Legiones.

In order to access them you must have the corresponding key and 95 Slayer (90 with wild pie) is required to enter. They are known for dropping their signets, which are required to create the Ascension crossbow and its off-hand variant, powerful level 90 ranged crossbows.

Background

They were created by Ocellus, who gave them greater intelligence under the hope that they would understand his meaning of not worshipping gods, but failed to. The minds of the Legiones are all linked together through magics, and each have known the other Legiones for thousands of years, dating back to the Third Age. The Legiones were also taught Guthixian magics.

After the events of The World Wakes, the Legiones were shocked at Guthix's death. They planned to create an ascended, artificial Guthix, by experimenting on villagers they had kidnapped from the nearby villages to find how to make man a god. Each Legio can be found in their own laboratories, trying to find a way to do this.

The Legiones currently reside in their labs, attempting to find out ways to ascend into godhood. In order to reach them, players must kill their creations (Rorarius, Gladius, Capsarius or Scutarius) to get a key which will unlock one of their labs.

Trivia

• Although 95 Slayer is required to access them, the Legiones do not have a Slayer level at all, as players of a lower level doing Co-op Slayer can still harm them. This makes them the only monsters in the monastery that do not require a Slayer level to kill.
• Legiones are one of the very few monsters in RuneScape that deal full damage through protection prayers if Devotion is not activated. The other monsters capable of dealing full or slightly reduced damage are Verac the Defiled, Vorago and the Kalphite King.
• For a while after the Crystal Triskelion was released, the Legiones were unable to drop crystal triskelion pieces despite their slayer level being high enough to meet the requirement. This was soon fixed in a later update.
