Kiteshields are a type of metal armour wielded in the shield slot. They are normally used as a melee protection and provide a good defence against all melee attack types. They can be smithed from all types of metals except for black and white, among others. Kiteshields are more powerful than square shields but also more expensive. Players using Magic often prefer square shields as their magic attack bonuses are higher than that of kiteshields. Some kiteshields can be bought in Cassie's Shield Shop in Falador. Kite shields that are not equipable may be placed in a player's house
