Karil's coif is ranged armour worn in the headwear slot that is part of Karil the Tainted's set of barrows equipment. To wear Karil's coif, a player must have 70 Defence and 70 Ranged.
Being part of Karil's Barrows set, if Karil's coif is worn along with all of the other pieces of equipment in Karil's barrows set the player receives a special attack. On successful attacks with Karil's crossbow against a player, there is a chance that it may temporarily lower that player's Agility level. This piece of armour cannot be made using the Crafting skill.
This piece of armour has a relatively low ranged attack bonus when compared with other ranged headgear, such as the archer helm, Blessed coif, and Robin hood hat. While its defence bonuses can be useful for range tanking, the Helm of neitiznot is often considered to be a better choice as it has defence bonuses which are nearly triple those of the coif, a moderate prayer bonus, and no range attack penalty. Torag's helm is also used more often for its sizable defence bonuses.

Players should note that it is cheaper to cast High level alchemy on a fully broken coif and buy a brand new one from the Grand Exchange than it is to repair a fully degraded coif with an NPC.
