[edit] Strengths and Weaknesses
Kalphite Guardians will not inflict poison everytime but a very high percentage of the time they hit (even if you have the Protect from Melee prayer on), starting at 6 damage, on a player when damage is dealt. They can hit for up to 16 damage in melee. They can be safely ranged from a couple locations, however they are fairly strong against ranged attacks. A somewhat common tactic is to poison them with a dragon dagger(p++) then back up and range. Kalphites are most vulnerable to crushing style attacks, however most players still prefer to use abyssal whip or dragon scimitar for training. Karils is also highly effective for training against Kalphites and so is Guthans.
[edit] Effective Killing
Kalphite Guardians can be easily killed by using any halberd (preferably dragon). You can stand behind the square of staligmites, in the south-west corner of the room with the tunnel is leading down to the Kalphite Queen. This room has two Kalphite Guardians in it. By taking several (super) anti-poison potions, you can heal yourself if you are ever poisoned, and by taking any food, you can heal if you are ever hit. Note Kalphite Guardians hit poison through prayer. Strength potions and Attack potions are useful. It is also useful to take a shield and weapon, such as the keris, and attack the guardians every now and then. This allows you to kill them slightly faster, while also having the option to continue halberding them while you regain hitpoints. If you plan on ranging Kalphite Guardians, a 60+ Range level is recommended as well as using a Rune crossbow with Mithril or higher bolts.
