The iron longsword is a longsword stronger than the bronze longsword, but weaker than the steel longsword. As with all iron weapons, level 10 Attack is required to wield it. Players can make an iron longsword with the Smithing skill at level 21 using 2 iron bars, awarding 50 Smithing experience.

This weapon, with the strength of longswords in general and the iron metal combined, can pack quite a punch for new players who are used to bronze weapons, its only drawback being its heavier weight. Like most other swords, on 12 April 2011, the iron longsword received an update changing the way it was held by players.
