The iron longsword is a longsword stronger than the bronze longsword. As with all Iron Weapons, there is no level requirement. It can only be used in combat. Players can make an iron longsword with the smithing skill at level 21 using 2 iron bars, giving the player 50 smithing experience. Players can purchase this longsword from the Varrock Swordshop in Varrock or from the Grand Exchange.
This weapon, with strenght in longswords generally and the iron metal combined, can pack quite a punch for those who are used to bronze weapons, and it's only slightly slowed down by it's weight. It also carries a good defense bonus. But high-level players generally don't respect this as a very good weapon today because there are so many better metals and other weapons jagex has made.
