The Homonunculus is a monster only encountered during the Tower of Life quest. It was created from the essence of life in the tower. During the quest, three alchemists torture it and eventually the Homunculus is set free. It is useful in Creature Creation. The name 'Homonunculus' is Latin and essentially means 'little man'. This is also one of the NPC's that can be contacted with the NPC contact spell in the lunar magic book.
