Hobgoblins are a strong, agile members of the goblinoid family. They can be aggressive to lower-level players, especially when several are in the area. Level 42 Hobgoblins wield spears, although one of the level 28 Hobgoblins near the Crafting guild wields a spear as well. They are good monsters to train on, mainly because they give good free-to-play drops for a low-level creature. They are well known for dropping Limpwurt roots which are used in the creation of Strength potions. They also reside in the God Wars Dungeon. If killed in the God Wars Dungeon they will count as a kill of Bandos.
In the quest Fur 'n' Seek, its skin must be collected and cleaned for the Odd Old Man.

[edit] Characteristics and History
Hobgoblins are said to be a crossbreed between Goblins and Orks[1], and were apparently bred by Bandos to fight as soldiers in the God Wars. While not as tenacious as goblins, or as strong as orks, Hobgoblins have strength that generally exceeds that of a goblin significantly, and are agile, mobile units[2] in battle unlike lumbering Orks and Ogres, making them a good all-round fighter. After the God Wars, when Bandos left Gielinor, they were left leaderless and now mainly live in desolate areas or caves, uncivilized and unorganised. They give approximately 116 experience upon killing them. Hobgoblins live mainly off a diet of chewing Limpwurt roots, which explains why they drop many of them, and presumably they eat some flesh, given their tusks and likeness to goblins.

[edit] Trivia
- In mythology, Hobgoblins are intelligent and helpful versions of goblins. In the game, it is quite the opposite.
- As of 23 September 2009, Hobgoblins received a graphical makeover. Their revenant counterparts received one too.
