A Hill giant is a type of giant found in several locations in RuneScape, most highly concentrated in the far southern end of the Edgeville Dungeon. They also appear to be wielding one of the Torag's hammer, but only one of them, not two. This dungeon can be accessed through the entrance located in the house north-east of the Barbarian Village and west of the Cooking Guild. The Edgeville Dungeon area is usually quite crowded, as players like to gather Big bones and either bury them for Prayer experience, or sell them to the Grand Exchange or to other players. At the Wilderness, very few people (usually players around 40-60 combat) go there because of the dangerous revenants in the area. However, with food and proper armour, a lower level player (30-40) could fight these giants without dying. The closest bank is Bounty Hunter, or Fist of Guthix.
If given as a Slayer assignment you can kill cyclopes instead.
Hill giants can hit up to four damage, only attack with Melee, and have very low Defence which makes them great for level 30-50 training.

[edit] Trivia
- They were once just called "Giant"s, but this was later changed by Jagex to avoid confusion between other giants.
- There are only three kinds of giants available for the free players who drop big bones: Moss giants, Hill giants, and Ice giants.
- It is recommended that those who want to fight Hill giants with Melee in Edgeville Dungeon to bring along shortbows and arrows, so one can use shortbow to first attack the Hill giant before anybody does (because shortbows are as fast as a scimitar),and then switch back to a Melee weapon. Players can also use Crossbows as they can be used with a Shield.
- Because of the high concentration of players, it is beneficial to memorise the general spawn point for these giants. Once one has been killed off, keep your mouse over the point and click it immediately when the Hill giant spawns. Scimitars and arrows are both faster than Magic.
- Hill giants are often used to train on by mid leveled players as they give 144 exp for strength, defence, or attack if not using a controlled (shared exp) attack.
