Harralander tar can be made at level 44 Herblore and yields 72.5 experience per herb. It is made by using clean harralander with 15 swamp tars. A player must have a pestle and mortar in their inventory or tool belt for the herb to be crushed into tar.

These are used when hunting black salamanders for net trap bait. It is also used as ammo for black salamanders.

Creating harralander tar in the Poison Waste is a medium Tirannwn Task.

Trivia

• After the Evolution of Combat, demand for harralander tar has sharply risen due to black salamanders being a powerful range weapon. 
• Black salamanders have the exact same stats as Karil's crossbow, harralander tar has the exact same stats as bolt racks, they both count as bolts, and both the weapons are two-handed. The only differences between the two is that Karil's crossbow has a longer range and allows for the set effect of Karil's armour, the Black salamander does not degrade, the extreme price difference, and that the tar cannot be recovered.
