Grifolic armour equipped

Grifolic equipment is a medium level set of magical equipment requiring 60 Magic and Defence. The visor, poncho, and leggings are created by using the Crafting skill to attach grifolic flakes to a piece of mycelium web armour using a needle and thread and degrades over 10 hours when used. The other pieces do not degrade and are obtainable as monster drops. The orb and gloves are dropped by grifolaroos, while the wand and shield are dropped by grifolapines.

The armour is not often used as it is expensive to maintain compared to other armours due to the material cost of each repair and the high skill. In addition, the level required to wear the armour is quite low and easily outtrained and replaced by higher level armour. Mystic robes are usually preferable, as it gives roughly similar armour bonuses and is significantly cheaper.

Crafting and repairEdit

Grifolic visors, ponchos and leggings are made with the Crafting skill. Each is made by sewing a number of grifolic flakes, which are obtained as drops from grifolapines and grifolaroos, to the corresponding pieces of mycelium web armour. The process requires a needle and thread, as well as different amounts of grifolic flakes and different Crafting levels, as indicated on the table below. The Assist System may be used when creating or repairing grifolic armour.

Grifolic gloves and orbs are dropped by grifolaroos, and wands and shields are dropped by grifolapines. They cannot be made with Crafting.

Grifolic visors, ponchos and leggings degrade over 30,000 charges of combat (a minimum time of 5 hours) before they revert to the corresponding piece of mycelium web armour. Partially degraded parts can be repaired using a fairly scaled amount of grifolic flakes (e.g. a 10% degraded visor will need 40 flakes to repair), which also requires the relevant Crafting level, a needle, and some thread, and gives scaled Crafting experience. Gloves, wands, orbs, and shields do not degrade.

TriviaEdit

  • Prior to the Evolution of Combat, grifolic armour, along with ganodermic armour and fungal armour, were the only armour in RuneScape that gave higher soak percentage in their own style than the style they were supposed to be strong against, according to the combat triangle.
    • Also, Polypore armour sets (such as fungal armour and ganodermic armour) had extremely low Ranged defence. This was likely to ensure there was a combat triangle weakness for this mage armour, due to its extremely high magic defence.
  • This set had additional pieces added after the launch of Evolution of Combat.
