The Granite crab is a level 16 Summoning familiar. It is summoned using a Granite crab pouch. The Granite crab can be used for the following things:
- Combat: it has a combat level of 26, and it provides defence experience when it deals damage.
- Fishing: it increases your fishing level by 1. However, this boost is invisible, and cannot be used to catch a fish 1 level higher than yours (example: You cannot use the granite crab to catch shark at level 75 fishing).
- Forager: While the player is fishing, this familiar can produce cod, pike, seaweed, and oysters. It can hold up to 30 of its foraged items in its own inventory.

Granite crab pouch is made by using a Summoning pouch on a Summoning obelisk with 7 spirit shards, a gold charm and a iron ore in the inventory. Making the pouch earns 21.6 experience points. Using the pouch to summon a Granite crab gains 0.2 experience points, and costs 2 Summoning points.

Stony shell scroll enables the use of the stony shell special move for a Granite crab. Using the pouch on a Summoning obelisk creates 10 scrolls and provides 0.2 experience.

Stony shell is the special move for Granite crabs, which temporarily boosts the player's defence level by +4. Activating this move will cost the player 12 special move points and provide 0.2 experience.

When you have at least level 26 summoning you can understand what it will say. The following is what it might say.
- Granite Crab: Can I have some fish?
Player: No, I have to cook these for later.
Granite Crab: Free fish, please?
Player: No... I already told you you can't.
Granite Crab: Can it be fish time soon?
Player: Great... I get stuck with the only granite crab in existence that can't take no for an answer...
- Granite Crab: Rock fish now, please?
Player: Not right now. I don't have any rock fish.
- Granite Crab: When can we go fishing? I want rock fish.
Player: When I need some fish. It's not that hard to work out right?
- Granite Crab: I'm stealthy!
Player: Errr... of course you are.
If the player uses an uncooked fish of any kind on the granite crab, it will say "That is not a rock fish..."
