The Golden mining top gives players a 1% boost to Mining experience gained. It is a reward from the Liquid gold nymphs in the Lava Flow Mine. It is the last of the five pieces of the golden mining suit that the nymph gives. The top, when worn with the rest of the Golden mining suit, has the mining effect of whichever Varrock armour the player owns, as well as contributing to the total 5% experience boost of the full suit. The effect is the same if the Varrock armour is worn with the set instead of the top, except that the Varrock armour has some defensive stats, weighs 9 kg less, permits smithing of two bars at the same time and can be easily regained if lost.

TriviaEdit

• Before an update on 25 May 2011, it was more beneficial to wear Varrock armour instead of the Golden mining top with the rest of the set because Varrock armour can double the ore yield, thus doubling the experience gained. This was patched, so now the Golden mining top has the effects of Varrock armour along with the 2.5% bonus if worn with the rest of the Golden mining set.
• Along with the Golden Mining Suit, Lumberjack clothing, Master Runecrafting Robes, Black Ibis, Constructor's outfit Clothing and the Fishing bonus set, they doubled the bonus experience received, from 2.5% to 5%.
