|Examine||Makes firelighting a lot easier.|
A Gnomish firelighter is a stackable treasure trail reward for Members only. When used on regular logs, they will first turn into the colour of the gnomish firelighter used, then disappear. "You coat the logs with the (colour) chemicals." When used with a tinderbox, the flame will either be blue, red, purple, white or green, depending on the colour of the firelighter used. When burning the logs, the experience gained is increased by 10 points, for a total of 50. However, the firelighters do not affect the burn time or cooking rates of the fire, so firelighters have little use apart from the slight experience boost and decoration. As of 10 May 2012, these may also be gained from fire spirits while making bonfires. Using a colored log on a burning log of any type changes its flames to the color of the log used.
- Firelighters were tradeable when they were first released. Some players used to scam others by selling these for upwards of 100,000 coins each, telling players that they were stackable items and that they never run out, letting players light an infinite amount of coloured fires each. This is untrue. Jagex had made these non-tradeable to combat the scams. However, on 4 August 2010, Jagex once again made these tradeable items, initially priced at 200 coins each. Coloured logs are still untradeable, however.
- Burning white logs cast a shadow, but burning logs of other colours, including regular colour, do not.
- When trying to add the lighter to an already lit fire a message will pop up saying, "You cannot cook this on a fire."
