Gnoeals are a bipedal goat-like creature that players will find in the Rellekka Hunter Area Dungeon. They attack with magic-based spitting attacks, which have a curse of transforming other creatures into yeti, which is why there are yeti in the same dungeon.
The first appearance of a gnoeals is during the Glorious Memoriesquest, in the Rellekka Hunter Area Dungeon. They are responsible for turning Nial Swifling and King Vargas into yeti and supposedly turn all adventurers they meet into yeti with the green goo that they spit. The speed at which they transform is relative to the exposure. Nial was hit by the brunt of the attack and thus transformed immediately while Vargas was only hit by a small amount and so he was able to stave off a full transformation for many years.
Apart from their habitat and their ability to corrupt adventurers and turn them into yeti, their origin is unknown.
They attack with magic and are surrounded by yetis. It is suggested that the player use armour with high magic defence, such as dragonhide or Karil's equipment. Using a cannon is also recommended if players are high in defence. Weaker players may also choose to use melee protecting prayers if they are attacked by several yetis at once, but this is not advised as the Gnoeals can hit harder than the yetis. Occasionally the yetis and the Gnoeals attack each other, similar to the inhabitants of the God Wars Dungeon. Both Gnoeals and the yetis they fight have a fairly decent drop rate for level 2 Clue scrolls, and are a good source for higher-levelled players in search of level 2 clues.
The goo attack used on the player does not turn them into a yeti, but will cause the occasional quotes in the chatbox like "You feel your hands getting bigger" suggesting a would-be transformation.
Monster Examine states that the max hits of Gnoeals is 200 life points. However, the actual max hit is slightly higher. This might not be a glitch, as Monster Examine typically gives the maximum melee hit.
