Gertrude is a woman who lives in a small house just west of Varrock. She is the character to whom members must talk to to begin both Gertrude's Cat and Rat Catchers quests.
After completing Gertrude's Cat, Gertrude gives you 1 kitten for free. If you lose your kitten or exchange it to 100 death runes in Ardougne, you may buy another kitten from her with 100 coins.
With enchanted Ring of Charos you get to choose the colour of the kitten.
Gertrude has 4 children, Shilop and Wilough, who both are featured in Gertrude's Cat quest, and Kanel and Philop who are not featured in any sort of quest.

The name Gertrude has close resemblance to Gertrude Of Nivelles [626-March 17,659] who was a saint and patron of cats.
