Gertrude Fairweather is a woman who lives in a small house just west of Varrock and south of the Cooks' Guild. She is the character to whom members must talk to begin both Gertrude's Cat and Rat Catchers quests After completing Gertrude's Cat, Gertrude gives you 1 kitten for free. If you lose your kitten or exchange it to 100 death runes in Ardougne, you may buy another kitten from her with 100 coins.

With enchanted Ring of Charos you get to choose the colour of the kitten.

Gertrude has 4 children, Shilop, Wilough (both of whom are featured in Gertrude's Cat quest), Kanel and Philop

(who are not featured in any quests).

• The name Gertrude may refer to Gertrude Of Nivelles [626 to 17 March 659] who was a saint and patron of cats.
• As written in the Varrock Census of the Defender of Varrock quest, Gertrude's husband was named Walter Fairweather and was a travelling merchant, apparently nowhere to be found in Gielinor at the actual moment.
• While doing A Tail of Two Cats, your player, while talking to Bob about Gertrude, calls her "the crazy cat lady".

Bob: She said she had feelings for me, but will never get involved with anyone with no family or status.

Player's cat: Don't you know who your parents are?

Bob: All I know is that Gertrude found me on her doorstep one day. She looked after me when I was a kitten.
