Gem Trader is a shop in northern Al Kharid. Though the shop is a stall, it is not the kind of stall that can be thieved from using the Thieving skill. Those gems stalls are located in Keldagrim and Ardougne.

The shop is nearly identical in stock to Herquin's Gems, with the only difference being a slight increase in the price of emeralds.
The Gem Trader shop doesn't stock any items. The only way for the Gem Trader to have any stock is for you to sell gem(s) to the shop. Since the price that the Gem Trader will buy the gem for is much less than the Grand Exchange, it is not advised to sell gems to the gem trader. For this reason, almost no one sells gems to the gem trader.
Prior to the release of the Grand Exchange, it was common for the Gem trader to have a fairly full stock on free to play worlds as his shop was the easiest way for newer players to sell their gems. However, with the release of the Grand Exchange there is now a better alternative, leaving the Gem trader with an empty shop. Newer players were also able to make small profits by buying uncut gems from the gem trader, cutting them, then selling back for a higher price.
