Hiya!

My name's Mark, and you might know me. Recently I've started at Wikia's Gaming Team to help our great amount of Gaming Wiki's with content-building and SEO. As you might or might not know, the "pagetitle" and links at the main page are by far the most important pages to attract new users (see help page). Now, what I'd like to suggest is that every time a big new update comes out (Nomad's Requiem currently, for example), the pagetitle will be updated. This way if a user searches at a search engine for "Nomad's Requiem" the RS wiki will be at the top. It might also be useful to add a link at the main page to the quest page. The wiki is always the fírst to have a quest guide on a quest, and tons of people are looking for a guide. This way they'll all come and read the page! :)!

Now, I'm aware that this wiki already shows up very high in the Google stats, though every little bit helps. I check the RuneScape main page every day, so if the wiki requires it I'll can update the pagetitle (and if required the main page). Of course a admin could also do this, and this is fully up to the community.

Thanks!

Comment - Wasn't this proposed before? I think that it might help, but how would you want to put it there? "Skills, quests, guides, Nomad's Requiem and more"? Ancient talisman Oil4 Talk 20:39, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Question to Mark - Wouldn't meta tags fulfill the same purpose ? I'm relatively new to the wiki so my bad if i seem a little naive ;-) Veritas vos Liberabit 20:52, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Posted this once at a talk page. And yes, somewhere around there. It doesn't really matter that it doesn't look good as users won't be able to see that at google/page due to the length. Meta tags do allow Google to discover the keywords, though with wiki's the main SEO is done through links and Pagetitle. Mark (Talk) • (Contribs) 20:54, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, yes, this was posted before: Forum:RS Wiki and search engines Hello71 22:52, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

I think that was rather to bring the search engine results to community attention. Anyway, I am a little neutral on this. When I search 'nomads requiem' in Google, our site comes third after "News Results" and Official RuneScape News. But maybe that's been changed by Google's personalised searches based on history. Anyway, I want to see some other opinions. It's always good to have more users and anyway to do so is great. *cough* Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 23:50, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Closed - The community doesn't seem to be in any need of this. C.ChiamTalk 13:26, April 2, 2010 (UTC)
