Link Exchange?
on this wiki
Forum page
Hello, my name is Rykros II. I currently am the owner/developer of Grand Exchange Watch, I saw you have an affiliate page that said to post here to talk about a possible link exchange.
My website offers a database of prices for every item available in the Grand Exchange with historical price data, graphs and so on and so forth. When I made the site I had no intention of offering too much information about the individual items, so each and every item links to their respective RS Wiki page in the "Grand Exchange Watch Information."
I see you are already in a link exchange with Grand Exchange Central, so I would understand if you were not interested. However, I hate to be that guy, but it appears as though GEC is affiliated with a gold selling site, which is not something Jagex condones.

Comment - Looks like you have a nice site going, nice layout and stuff. What else can you add to make it better? It would be nice to see more lists like the most popular, maybe do some graph analysis, add some technical indicators, add the buying limits...it looks promising and it definitely has a better format than the other Grand Exchange sites, but in terms of content there's not much so far that sets it above the others. If you can add more original stuff I'd be happy to support affiliation, because a lot of our Grand Exchange stuff is below par (due to technical limitations) and could be supplemented with outside work.
As for Grand Exchange Central, I didn't know that they were affiliated with Smokin Mils. I'll try to get in contact with whoever owns that site.

- Thank you for your reply. I am always working on adding new features to the website. In fact, right now, I am working on a daily (well, so long as Jagex releases the prices on a regular schedule) email that is sent right to the users inbox. Registered users can subscribe to any item along with any investments they are currently tracking. The buying/selling limits sounds like a good idea, I will have to research those.
- But since I am only one person, I can only think of features I find most useful. If you have any other suggestions (or clarification to graph analysis/technical indicators), I will put them into serious consideration. Rykros II (talk) 23:23, September 3, 2012 (UTC)
- I have plenty ideas I'd love to talk you about.

Comment - If someone could provide a list of things we can't/don't do when it comes to exchange pages that your site does/is considering doing then I'd be more than happy to give it some consideration. The only thing I noticed at a glance was a history going back daily which short of trawling through a page history I don't think we offer. However, I'm sure there's more

- There are a couple things, there is a personalized watch list and an investment tracker (which will be utilized with the daily email notification I mentioned above) that's only accessible to registered users. There are also profit tables for items (which are sometimes available on this site), and then the alchemy profit. But I am always looking into what I can do to make it more useful. - Not to mention our graphs suck while theirs don't. We have about 3x as much price data as any other site but we display them in grunchy little graphs that don't tell you anything.

- kinda off-topic, but we do indeed need to do something about the graphs on the wiki. For example we could give each Exchange: page a /history subpage which stores data (includeonly) and shows a chart using that data (noinclude) transcluding itself. Maybe we could use an existing script to generate a chart that uses those numbers. JOEYTJE50TALK 09:36, September 7, 2012 (UTC)
- Support - per explanation of extra features. Also support removal of links to GEC unless the RWT links are removed prior to the closure of this forum. Cåm 00:19,8/9/2012 (UTC)

Support - The website is visually more appealing, and as per above, there are some distinct advantages available from this. Even if this doesn't pass, I will also support a removal of GEC links due to the RWTing affiliation.

Support - per Rhys. We shouldn't be linking to anything with RWT. The website is also nice, and added features, as stated above, should only make it better. --

Support - The website looks good. As the site also lists discontinued items, that convinces me the site has been made with care, and I think it would be nice to be affiliated. About the GEC, I support removing the links. JOEYTJE50TALK 09:36, September 7, 2012 (UTC)

- Cook has stated we cannot close this until we have spoken with our affiliate with whom we want to disassociate. He is currently in contact with them. MolManLnk xchng? 16:07, September 22, 2012 (UTC)
- Couldn't we just affiliate with grand exchange watch and then just leave this thread sitting here (with is completely unnecessary really) to wait for GEC to reply to Cook? Hair 16:10, September 22, 2012 (UTC)
- Affiliations should not be dependent on another site's status, but based on the merits of the individual sites. I fail to understand why Grand Exchange Watch should wait for another site to reply regarding their own status, assuming they do at all. Cåm 14:40,23/9/2012 (UTC)

Marginal Support I am in full support of overwriting this site with the old site, however, I am relatively unsure as to what the real purpose is to a seprate Grand Exchange watch from either this site or Jagex's own. --

Closed - A month later. Grand Exchange Watch has been added to our list of affiliated sites on RS:LINKS. I have been unable to get in contact with Grand Exchange Central, so for now they will stay on the list as well. Any other discussion (fixing our own graphs, integration with GEW) can be taken to another topic.
