So apparently, past image revisions for images hosted on wikia all have JPG artifacts in them even if they were originally uploaded as a PNG file (with the exception if it had an alpha-layer).
While this has zero effect on most pages, the pages annoyingly affected are the graphical updates pages, where due to easiness, a number of images were simply linked from past revisions rather than upload separately. So now things like Graphical_updates/Interfaces are mostly JPG'd.
What should be done with this? I'm thinking of:
- Ignore it, and leave links broken/JPG'd
- Save the past revisions, and upload it seperately
- Save the past revisions, naively run it through noise removal software like waifu2x.udp.jp , then reupload (Works poorly for the NiS blue backgrounds tho)
- Other idk

Support 2 - But frankly GU/Interfaces is so outdated it's the least of my concern. If get round to updating the pages this summer, I won't be starting with that.

Support 1 - The graphical update pages get next to no traffic, and reuploading them is a whole lotta work with very little benefit to the wiki (unless a bot can do that?) Dennoh

Comment Can we really do anything about this? I mean is waifu2x really effective?, stuff like interface should be relatively easy to remake using cache sprites, but how about thing such as monsters? Comment - Most of the interfaces seem to be separate files (if not all, I didn't look in too much detail) so I'm confused where we're meant to be seeing this. User:Cqm/Signature
