For those who are familiar with the new Photo Booth that has been added to the game, I've added to our "whitelist" for external websites capable of being imported into the RSWiki, so you can display the latest "snapshot" of your character on your user page... or wherever you want to put these kind of photos.

For full body shots, you need to use the following format:

http://avatar-rs.runescape.com/<your character name>/full.gif

An example of my own account dressed in full dragon (well, mostly) is below:

http://avatar-rs.runescape.com/king_korihor/full.gif

To do the "headshots" that you can find in the official forums, a slightly different format can be used:

http://avatar-rs.runescape.com/<your character name>/chat.gif

And of course my own (as an example):

http://avatar-rs.runescape.com/king_korihor/chat.gif

In the interest of RS:BB I've simply made the changes to the whitelist, although I or any other admin could certainly "undo" this sort of action as well if the community is against having this poked through the "firewall" of possible sites on the whitelist. For myself, I don't see what the problem is here, and this applies only to avatar images for players and not any other jagex content including the knowledge base. I think that is a reasonable enough exclusion that this can be kept to a bare minimum.

It is also interesting that if you have this on your user page, that any time you visit the photo booth the image will be automatically updated anywhere you have this link on your account. You might want to keep this down in terms of adding it to your sig here or on other fan sites, but it could be something worth at least looking at. Unfortunately, this is a member-only feature as well (for now). It is sort of interesting how in-game actions can impact external content. That is going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. --Robert Horning 00:11, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Good idea. Shame that they're not transparent, though that's Jagex's fault not ours. Could still be useful for quick, self-updating images on userpages. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 17:00, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Comment - Looks good to me. Very nice way to make it possible to automatically update your avatar on the RSOF and here at the same time. Nice armour by the way. Ancient talisman Oil4 Talk 18:17, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Comment/Support - Great! I recommend adding how to do this to RS:USER. Comments? This could also result in less personal images. Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 05:25, October 9, 2009 (UTC)

This is a really good idea! As a matter of fact, I just updated RS:USER to provide ongoing information on how to accomplish this (and tweaked the policy a little bit.... nothing that isn't already well established policy has been changed). It would be nice to find a way to "blow up" the full body shot, but I don't think that is going to be something easy to do without the active support of Jagex. --Robert Horning 12:45, October 9, 2009 (UTC)

Comment - Great idea, and transparency can always be added if the desire calls for it. Zaros symbolChaos Monk Talk SignCoins 250 22:55, October 9, 2009 (UTC)

Actually, we cannot add transparency to images hosted on Jagex's website without hosting them on one of our own sites, which is hard for people without an imageshack and/or Photobucket account. Anyways, great job, Robert. When I become a member, I am soooooo using this feature, though I am gonna have to play a couple of games of Stealing Creation first....--

True, but, I bet if those without the ability to use those websites asked around, they could find someone to do it/host it. Still, the main thing is the support. Zaros symbolChaos Monk Talk SignCoins 250 03:08, October 10, 2009 (UTC)
Then they wouldn't update anymore... Ancient talisman Oil4 Talk 09:01, October 10, 2009 (UTC)
