Ok, this has been bugging me for abit. I've noticed in nearly all our animated pictures, they either contain Tarikochi, or our newest editor, Tebuddy. Now, I've been thinking, shouldn't we start remaking all the animated images, but instead of a certain costume based on who's making it, we should just use the default look. Bald head, beige shirt, green pants.

This way, we don't have another Tarikochi-RFA-disaster where we just sysop someone based on their ability to make animated GIFs, instead of their ability to be a sysop. I'd like to get a mass community census on this because I'm tired of going into articles and seeing an animated GIF containing a guy in a miniskirt and a lava cape, or some guy in a bomber cap and gnome goggles. I for one absolutely hate the default look. I think a variety of costumes is best, with whoever uploads a particular pic first pretty much having it the way they want. Replacing pics because we don't like the costume could and most likely would lead to a HUGE edit war. Theres enough insanity already.--Degenret01 07:03, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

I agree on some points you made, mainly the insanity. Allow me to explain;

Being a new user, and only lurking around the wiki since about 2 weeks ago, when I first announced my debut, I've witnessed alot of the insanity. And I'm not trying to sound biased against Tebuddy or Tarikochi, but it seems that Tari only got a successful RFA in such a short time, simply because she could make animated GIFs (which, I will be honest, these days, any 3 year old with Photoshop can do). I also agree that the default look is quite horrid, and maybe settling on a wikia-wide default outfit would work. I agree with Chiafriend and Degenret as there should be variety in the animations. No offense to Tarikochi, but her animations seem to be everywhere, and after a while the animations gets boring and stale. I would like to see more hair colours, different skin tones, various armours, etc. I don't want to create controversy, but Tarikochi's images are female, this would be seem RuneScape Wiki supports feminism and only encourages female animations. What about the males? Male characters are not represented in animations. It's only Tarikochi, Tarikochi and more Tarikochi. =O az ^talk 08:28, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

While I do agree that a set standard is always nice (maybe even give it a fun name, like RuneBob/Betty), I don't think beggars can be choosers, since we need all the helpful images we can get. Tarikochi and Tebuddy have both helped out tremendously with images, and we shouldn't take it upon ourselves to decide what they (or anyone else, for that matter) look like. --Sαcrε Fι ^{(edit my sig) | (edit my user page)} 08:57, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

I agree with alot of the points you've all made, and I apologize if some of my comments seemed rude, it's just, like Azliq said, they've gotten stale. I don't think we should have every image with the same person. A lot of images are just random players with Tarikochi there instead. Some images (like the one on Template:Disambig, even) even have multiple RuneScape avatars, that all look like Tarikochi. What's the point of that? Just leave the image how it is, with the player that took the pic. There should be variety in the wiki, and if there's not, it shouldn't be the bald-headed guy with the green shirt. It also probably shouldn't be ChikoritaPro's distinct appearance; if we're going to have all the images look the same (which I suggest we don't, we should have a lot of variety), we should just have something neutral, like what Daedryon said. I utterly oppose to the suggestion.

Firstly, it is quite impossible to select a "uniform" for all animation makers, as people have their own favourite.
Secondly, it seems too dominant and "boring" to see a group of people who wear the same to make the vast majority of animations of the Wikia. (Sorry Tarikochi, really no offense). I even am feeling bored after I have made a few animations for teleports and spells with the same Mystics robes!
Thirdly, it is difficult to choose a "good-looking" gear (like skillcapes) since not everyone has it, and gear of too common (like wizard robe) will be a bit inappropriate.
Fourthly, it is also a freedom to let the makers to choose what they really want to wear.
Fifthly, as Chia has said - the animations are directly contributed by the makers, they should have the right to design anything inside the animation frame.

Targetting my second point, I think a help page or so of making good animations should be written, as everyone could join in contributing visually but not only textually (also, even a map making guide is written). Extending from the suitability of Tarikochi's administrative ability mentioned by some of you, he/she deserves another "nick", like "Ani-king" but not the Admin if many of us think so. I agree, once again. A good example of this costume stuff is on the Human page. Tebuddy's uploaded 2 images of people in his costume, when he could have just took 2 pictures of a default costumed male and female. Plus, hid images are poorly timed, with little snaps in the graphics every couple of seconds. However, if someone was to get like a full set of 3rd Age Melee armour, that would be a good default costume. Opposed. Why complicate something simple like this? Myself, Tarikochi, and however many other editor out there all take the time to record an image over and over, coordinate with other players within the game, edit it, upload it, and then make sure it is placed within whatever pages needed. And we do this hundreds of times throughout wiki. To institute a change now, when someone like Tarikochi has 450+ animated images all with the same outfit in it would be ridiculous and unnecessary.
