Focus sight detail
Focus sight chathead

The Focus sight is a headband which was released on 8 February 2010 together with the strykewyrms, the Hexcrest, and the Staff of Light. It boosts the player's Ranged attack and both Magic and Ranged defence bonuses. It is only dropped by desert strykewyrms. The Focus sight, along with the hexcrest, is required to make a full slayer helmet. When worn, the player's ranged damage and accuracy are increased by 15% against the monster assigned as a Slayer task. This item is NOT lendable.

The Focus sight requires 20 Ranged and 10 Defence to equip.

A focus sight drop is mentioned in the Adventurer's Log with the message, "After killing a Desert strykewyrm, it dropped a focus sight."

Unique features

This is one of the very few items providing a negative boost to defence against melee styled attacks. This could be used in 1v1 matches, for example attempting to maxhit, or when 2 players are boosting in fight pits to obtain a Hybrid top.

Trivia

  • The focus sight is most likely based off a Head-mounted display
  • You can't see the crosshairs on the Focus Sight from the equipment menu unless it's on a Full Slayer helm, but is fully visible while chatting to an NPC (Non-Player-Character).
  • After an update, when wearing the Focus sight, parts of a player's hair might become brown patches.
  • The focus sight became a quite popular forum avatar item after its visual update on March 6, 2012.
