A Staff of fire is an elemental staff. It provides an unlimited amount of fire runes. This staff is used mainly for High Alchemy, Superheat Item, and fire missile spells, which contributes to the excess of fire runes in Runescape. If you have a crystal ball in your house you can change the element of this staff. Visually the staff of fire is identical to the fire battlestaff and the mystic fire staff. It used to have the autocast option, but this became useless after the update where spells could be autocast without a staff.
