Fire Blast requires a Magic level of 59 to cast and can do a maximum of 16 damage per spell. In free-to-play, it is the most powerful combat spell, and is commonly used for PvP minigames including Clan Wars, Duel Arena, Bounty Hunter, and Fist of Guthix. It is common to see an opponent in Fist of Guthix to switch from this spell to melee/range to hit maximum damage by avoiding opponent's protection prayers.

It is common to see low-leveled pures (around a combat level of 40) being capable of casting Fire Blast, as these players are Pure Mages, with Melee and Ranged skills at level 1, and relatively low Hitpoints for their combat. By casting magic spells on dummies and using curses, some pures even achieve Fire Blast as early as 31 combat, and then train their hitpoints before pking. Examples include the Fyre triplets, who famously began pking with Fire Blast at 33 combat very successfully.

Fire Blast costs 490 coins for each cast when not using any elemental staff.

Due to a recent update to the Magic skill by Jagex, use of the prayer "Mystic Might" may now increase the maximum hit of spells in F2P.

Remember, you cannot use Ancient Magicks or Lunar Spells if you are using regular Magic.
