Wilderness manual detail

The Wilderness manual is a book found by searching bookcases around RuneScape, such as the one in the first floor of Varrock Palace, in the southern part. It is four pages long and informs players about the Wilderness.

Transcript[]

In the north-east of RuneScape there is a region where players may fight other players. This land is known as the Wilderness.

At the southern edge of the Wilderness, you may only fight players whose combat level is close to your own. As you go further north, you become able to fight players with a wider range of combat levels. this means you might find yourself attacked by players who are considerably stronger than you, so watch out!

If you get killed you will drop everything except your 3 most valuable items. However if you attack another player who hasn't recently attacked you, you may be marked with a skull for 20 minutes; you will drop ALL your items if you die whilst you are skulled. Anything you drop on death will normally be awarded to the player who did most damage against you; your gravestone will not appear in the Wilderness at all.

The Protect Item prayer allows you to keep one extra item of death, so you will keep one item if you use the prayer while you are skulled. On certain game worlds, the Protect item prayer may not be used in the Wilderness!

If you drop items on the floor in the Wilderness, other players will be able to pick them up immediately, so don't drop anything you want to keep.

Pvp worlds manual[]

Before 1 February 2011, this item used to be called the Pvp worlds manual, which appeared in the inventory when a player first entered a PvP world. It contained basic information on the PvP worlds.

If lost, players could receive another book by talking to the Doomsayer outside the Lumbridge Castle.

PvP stands for player vs player, and often refers to combat between a number of players.

A PvP world allows you to fight other players throughout RuneScape, with the exception of a few safe areas. These include banks, respawn points and some guilds. An icon will appear to let you know when you're in a safe area.

When you enter a PvP world a skull icon appears above your head - something we call being 'skulled'. Dying while skulled means you lose all your items, and you won't get to keep your three most valuable items like you normally would. if you retaliate against someone who has attacked you, this does not leave you skulled.

As with all other RuneScape worlds, you lose any unprotected items you are carrying when you die.

When you defeat another player in combat on a PvP World, you have a chance to get rewards in the form of items. These items can come straight from your opponent inventory or be selected randomly from a series of objects - some of which are unique to PvP worlds.

You will notice that you receive better items by spending more time in PvP worlds - especially in hot zones and by taking more valuable items into combat. A picture of a fiery skull will appear on your screen if you are in a hot zone.

There are exciting new items that may be dropped, available only on a PvP World. These items will degrade over time when worn or while in combat, and cannot be fixed. When they finish degrading they will turn to dust.
