The reward chest was a chest placed at the Lumbridge Crater during the Build-A-Fayre community event.

While the event was running, the chest could not be opened. At the end of the event, players that made a sufficient contribution towards the event could open it to a receive the mystical staff, prompting the message "You open the chest and claim the Mystical Staff!" Attempting to open the chest again prompted the message "The event is over and you've already opened the chest and claimed your reward."
