[FAQ] • [doc]

The dark energy core is a monster that is first seen in the Summer's End quest. It appears from within the Spirit Beast and players have to trap the Core within a hole, in order for Jallek Lenkin to attack the Beast. According to Jallek, the dark energy core contains a portion of the player's spirit within it, as the beast has been draining it during Spirit of Summer and Summer's End. After the player and Meranek Thanatos break the chestplate protecting the dark energy core, it will fall out and, as it contains sections of the players spirit within it, will try to rejoin with the player's spirit. However, as it had been corrupted with dark energy, trying to unite with the player's spirit would cause much pain.

The dark energy core is summoned during the fight with the Corporeal Beast. When the core appears is dependent on how many players are in the room and how fast the Beast is losing health. The dark energy core leaps at a player and chases them around the room until it is killed, although it will quickly be summoned again as there is no limit to how many times the Corporeal Beast can summon the core during the fight.

The core does not attack with any combat style; instead, it deals rapid, typeless damage to all players within a 3x3 radius of it as well as draining some prayer points with each hit. The core transfers damage dealt to players as health for the Beast. The low amount of health the core has means that it can easily be destroyed through area of effect abilities, most commonly Hurricane and Quake. Additionally, the dark core may be poisoned which renders it incapacitated. This strategy can be short-lived due to it's low pool of hit points allowing it easily to succumb to poison. It will not attack or heal the Corporeal Beast while poisoned although attempting to keep the dark energy core poisoned outside indirect area of effect abilities with Weapon poison++ can become somewhat tedious when the player can instead focus on it's master.

Trivia[]

  • Rarely, after killing the Corporeal Beast, the dark energy core may still be running around as usual. It will still stay in the same spot, damaging players until they move. The only way to fix this is by staying away from the 3x3 radius and after jumping to the next spot, it will disappear.
