A fighter torso or penance torso (as listed on the rewards screen of the Barbarian Assault minigame), is a piece of members-only armour. To wear one, a player must have level 50 Defence. A fighter torso can be obtained by exchanging 375 honour points in all four roles and after killing the Penance Queen at least once in the Barbarian Assault minigame.
The 19 January 2010 Barbarian Assault Update, made it so that a fighter torso could be picked up from a player's gravestone if they should die with it. In addition, it was made possible to bank multiple fighter torsos, as well as other penance items you win. Also, the fighter torso's bonuses were made equal to the rune platebody, but within 2 hours of the update, another update was issued that restored the torso to its previous bonuses. However, with the Evolution of Combat, the fighter torso is now considerably better than a rune platebody, with 50 greater armour rating and 100 more life points bonus.
The fighter torso is comparable to a granite body, with 20 less life points bonus and 50 greater armour rating, making it a viable alternative if one is looking for an upgrade to the rune platebody but does not have the funds for Dragon equipment, though it does require a bit more effort on the player's part to acquire.
