Family gauntlets are a reward for completing the Family Crest quest. Players can take them to any of the three brothers from the quest and have them enchant the gauntlets with a special ability. Players can only have one effect at a time, and it will cost 25,000 coins to change the effect of the gauntlets.
If a player loses the gauntlets, Dimintheis will have found them and will give them back with its previous enchantment, making the original gloves unobtainable after they are enchanted once. If you own a professional or a champions tackle box, it is possible to store a pair of cooking gauntlets in it and receive another pair, which can then be enchanted with a different power. However, when taking the cooking gauntlets from the tackle box for use, you must return them to the tackle box before you log out or they will disappear if you have another pair in your bank.

The enchanted gauntlets
Bring the family gauntlets to Caleb in a building with a range symbol in Catherby. Cooking gauntlets greatly decrease the chance of burning fish, particularly lobsters, swordfish, monkfish, sharks, cavefish and rocktail.
Bring the family gauntlets to Avan in the Al-Kharid mine. Goldsmith gauntlets increase the Smithing experience of smelting gold from 22.5 to 56.2. This makes smelting gold bars more efficient, but will still make you lose a lot of money. Buying gold ore for 353 coins and smelting them will give a loss of 215 coins per bar, or 4 coins per exp.
- There is a glitch that occurs upon wearing the gauntlets; a player's shadow gets slightly bigger.
