Face mask chathead
Face mask detail

A face mask is a Slayer item worn on the headgear armour slot, requiring level 10 Slayer to wear. The face mask can be bought from any slayer Master for 200 coins. It is worn when entering the Smoke Dungeon in the Kharidian Desert. If the face mask is taken off at any time while in the dungeon, inhaling the dust and smoke will cause heavy damage to players at a rate of 200 life points every 12 seconds. It must also be worn when fighting dust devils otherwise they will dramatically decrease players' stats. It may be substituted by masked earmuffs upon completion of the Smoking Kills quest, or a gas mask, which does not require any Slayer level to wear but does not protect against the dust devils' attacks, only the smoke in the dungeon.

During Mourning's Ends Part II, if the player has not yet acquired a death talisman through other means, Thorgel will supply the player with one, upon delivering a list of items to him which may include a face mask. Additionally, it is one of the items needed for constructing a slayer helmet.
