Equilibrium aura detail

Equilibrium is a tier two aura available as part of the Members Loyalty Programme and can be purchased from Xuan in Burthorpe, for 23,000 Membership Loyalty Points. This aura causes your successful hits in combat to have your maximum hit reduced by 25%, but also have your minimum hit increased by the same amount. It does not affect the rate at which you successfully hit. It does not mean that you will never hit a zero. It only increases the minimum hit (meaning that "blocked" attacks are not affected) so keep this in mind.

Typically ability damage ranges from 20% to 100% of the stated damage percent of the ability. Equilibrium will reduce the maximum hit and increase the minimum hit by 25% of the damage range, here 80% (100-20), or 20%. A typical ability will thus hit between 40% and 80% of the stated damage with the aura active.

It is activated for two hours and has a cooldown time of four hours. Also, as with all auras, if the account using it is logged out while the aura is activated, the timer will continue to run out.

One benefit to using this aura is that it slightly increases the speed at which a monster is slain. By reducing the player's maximum hit without affecting their average damage per hit, less damage will be "wasted" when a hit is greater than the monster's remaining life points. This effect is most prominent against monsters with low health, while being almost negligible against tougher enemies such as bosses. In addition, slow but hard hitting weapons benefit more from this fact than faster, weaker weapons.

This aura is most useful when training combat on any monster that you can regularly kill in three hits or less, because on the last hit of the fight you will most likely waste a lot of damage, (e.g. hitting a 200 when the monster only has 75 life points left). On the other hand, it prevents you from hitting for a very small amount and needing to use an entire extra attack to finish it off (for example, hitting a 50 when the monster only has 100 life points left).

When this aura is used in combination with the Equilibrium perk, the perk will be ignored which will result in less damage per second. So in this case the equilibrium aura should only be used on monsters with a low amount of life points because the advantage of less waste damage gets reduced by the decrease of overall damage per second. This gets worse when the amount of life points of the monsters increases until the decrease in damage per second becomes greater than the decrease on wasted damage which would make the aura a downgrade.
