Emergency teleport

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

Emergency teleports are instantaneous teleports used as a fast retreat in dangerous situations which can easily become fatal. It is advised to bring one for things such as quest and boss fights, or when the opponent is significantly stronger then the player. A good emergency teleport must be fast (usable in just one left click) so that it would not be interrupted by combat.

[edit] Recommended Teleport Solutions

There are several of such escape teleports, including:

  • Any teleportation tablet
    • House teleport is the most commonly used emergency teleport, since the player does not lose their items if he/she dies in a POH, which is especially helpful if poisoned. Additionally, teleporting to the house allows the player to restock at the nearest bank. Yanille is the best option for that. It may also be advisable to die within the house and not risk running to the bank. Combat rings or dungeons are useful for player wishing to do that.

  • Ectophial is one of the best escape teleports, as the player does not take any damage from when it is activated, it can be used as many times as needed, can be reobtained free of charge, and the teleport location is close to a bank.
  • Explorer's ring 3 whilst in inventory (an excellent option due to its unlimited number of charges and its teleportation destination at the cabbage field near Falador, Port Sarim, and Draynor Village. The cabbage field can be a good source of food in an emergency.
  • Ring of life
    • While not a teleport that a player can initiate or control, wearing one of these is. While a player can panic, be damaged faster than the HP is replenished, or simply suffer from lag, this ring automatically triggers a teleport between 1hp and 10% of the player's maximum health. However, this does not mean that the wearer is invincible, as being hit more then the remaining 10% bypasses this trigger, killing the player.
  • Teleport
    • Any Teleportation spell from all three spellbooks can be used, but it is better if it is an item in the inventory since that extra couple seconds it takes to change from the inventory to the spellbook could be the difference between life and death. It is, however, fine to use them in less dangerous situations to escape. Players must remember that some spells from the Ancient Magicks spellbook and the Lunar spellbook can teleport to the wilderness, which can sometimes be anything but a safe location for a weakened player. Teleportation spells may also be ineffective if the player is in a situation where their magic level is reduced.

Items that require two clicks such as a Ring of duelling, Amulet of glory or the Home teleport should not be used as emergency teleports because they are slow and most often a monster will strike and interrupt them before they can teleport the user.

As a general guideline, when carrying valuable items, it is better to play safe deciding when to teleport. If a player is in a situation in which his or her health is rapidly depleting to dangerous levels (red), teleporting as soon as possible is a must. If a player is trapped but is in no immediate danger of dying, the suggested course of action is to replenish health as needed and teleport when all food and prayer is gone and the health bar is orange. As a general rule, if a player cannot replenish his health as fast as he is losing it, then an emergency teleport will be needed to avoid death.
